Sport Motorcycle Riding

The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club was founded in 1980 by Alan Cathcart and his wife Stella along with his friend Dick Linton, and is dedicated to preserving and using post war racing machines. Members race classic bikes at top circuits in the UK at a fast and furious pace and, although the races are competitive, they are in it mainly to have fun.

Alan bought a Matchless G50 in 1974 and this was the catalyst for the founding of the CRMC. In 1980 the bike was only 12 years old and too young for the Vintage Club with their 25-year cut-off date. Alan arranged with their racing section to lay on a couple of parades at their annual Brands Hatch meeting for what they now call classic bikes, like the CR93 Honda and XR750 Harley, which Alan had collected because he liked them.
