It’s that time of year again. The engines are firing up and the tanks are being filled: the two major motorsport protagonists, Formula 1 and MotoGP, are truly getting underway with their pre-season testing.

Formula 1

The F1 circus headed over to Valencia for a three-day city break. Sebastian Vettel, the new world champion, shone on day one, only to be pipped by former world champion, Fernando Alonso on day two. With day three still ongoing, Adrian Sutil in the Force India is currently leading his contemporaries, putting in a more than impressive performance, though he is driving the quicker 2010 car.

Unlike the MotoGP test, the Formula 1 has yet to see a full grid out on track. Day three is the first outing for Jenson Button and Felipe Massa, though their teammates both made appearances on day two (Alonso 1st, Hamilton 4th). Massa’s morning was maybe not as successful as planned due to a spin, which, combined with oil on the track, led to the Ferrari setting alight. Massa is currently residing in 6th place, Button in 4th.
